Loopha PHA 3D Printing Filament
Print with a material designed to return to nature.
Loopha is a PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoate) 3D printing filament made from bio-based materials. Unlike conventional petroleum-based plastics, PHA is produced through microbial fermentation and is designed to biodegrade in natural environments under suitable conditions.
The collection also explores natural colours and material streams such as coffee grounds, tea residue, orange peel, grape skin, seaweed and activated carbon turning material inspiration from nature into functional filament for 3D printing.
Why Loopha PHA
- 100% bio-based PHA material

- Heat resistance of 85°C+
- Lower moisture absorption than many common 3D printing filaments
- Natural and waste-inspired colour options
- Recyclable cardboard spool
- 1.75 mm filament diameter
- 1 kg spool

PHA prints differently from standard PLA. It is relatively soft and may be more prone to warping, stringing or bridging droop, so some calibration is normally required.
For best results, calibrate Flow Ratio and K-Factor / Linear Advance for your individual spool and printer.
If layer adhesion is weak, slightly increasing printing temperature and adjusting print speed may help.
A brim, build-plate adhesive or enclosure adjustment may also be useful depending on the model.
Important printing notes
Not recommended for AMS automatic feeding systems.
Because the filament is relatively soft, Loopha PHA is not recommended for Bambu Lab AMS or similar automatic filament feeding systems.
For Bambu Lab printers:
The manufacturer recommends using a Bambu Lab Low Temperature Plate where appropriate.
Keep enclosed printers ventilated.
Avoid printing with the printer completely sealed. Open the front door or top cover where applicable.
Moisture and drying:
PHA itself is relatively hydrophobic, but natural biomass components within some variants may absorb moisture in humid environments. If you experience reduced print quality or popping sounds during extrusion, dry the filament at approximately:
65°C for 4 hours
Because PHA is produced through microbial fermentation and is sensitive to processing conditions, optimal settings can vary slightly between batches, printers and ambient temperatures.
